I was a missionary in China for about fourteen years, from 1929-1943. I served at a mission that rescued girls from a life of sin. Through loving care, a goodly number were born again. In 1938 I heard about Watchman Nee, and I was deeply impressed the first time I heard him speak. His ministry of the Word revealed that I had a human spirit and that the Spirit had come to abide in my spirit! (1 Thessalonians 5:23; John 3:6) This revelation changed my life. I knew Watchman Nee and his wife, Charity, personally and fellowshipped with them up to the day I was interned by the Japanese authorities. Every contact with the brothers in the Lord was a blessing never to be forgotten.
